THE NEW CHANCE MEDITERRANEAN PROJECT
PRE-SELECTED FOR THE “SUMMIT OF THE TWO SHORES”!
Following the preparatory forum for the “Summit of the Two Shores” held in Malta on 24 and 25 April on the theme “Youth, education, mobility”, 21 projects, including the New Chance Mediterranean project were pre-selected, from among all the projects presented by organisations from civil society and the official delegations from the Summit’s 10 member countries. Reacting to the presentation of the New Chance Mediterranean project, the Maltese Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the importance of developing second chance solutions for the Mediterranean region.
Encouraged in particular by the French Development Agency, the Union for the Mediterranean, the Moroccan national delegation, and the Region Sud, the IECD and the members of the New Chance Mediterranean network already present in 7 of the Summit’s 10 countries hope that, on 24 June in Marseille, Heads of State will commit to supporting the extension of their activity and, thus, help thousands of young Mediterraneans who are removed from training and employment to find their place in society.
N.B: The “Summit of the Two Shores” is an initiative by the French President and aims to strengthen ties between the two shores of the Mediterranean through the setting up of concrete projects that favour human, economic and sustainable development in the region. It brings together 5 Southern European countries and 5 North African countries.
